Luxury Kitchen Remodel: The PNW-Heavy Bellevue Kitchen

The Goal: Create a PNW-style open-concept kitchen for entertaining.

The Remodel: Added a large island, granite countertops, and custom walnut cabinets to complement the hardwood floors. Installed modern lighting–with pendant lights–to maximize brightness.

We love the cohesiveness of the PNW wood elements: walnut cabinets, hardwood floors, and even the wood stools and kitchenware keep you grounded in Washington’s woods, without feeling lumberjack-y. There’s also contrasting elements like the tiled backsplash, silver steel appliances and granite countertops that make this kitchen feel like it was made yesterday.

Why It’s a Favorite: It turned from a cramped corner into the heart of the home, with lots more space for mom and dad to chef up some home-cooked meals without bumping into each other. While the remodel itself isn’t the flashiest build in the world, it looks beautiful with subtle elements that make up this piece.

The Oceanic Bainbridge Kitchen

The Goal: Create a colorful open-concept kitchen that impresses the guests.

The Remodel: What’s the first thing you notice about this kitchen? If it isn’t the diamond tiled backsplash, we did something wrong. Stepping aside from the personality-driven ocean walls, this new kitchen features white cabinetry (a great choice for those who want to contrast with color), quartz countertops, and an added island to keep conversations and meals within the kitchen. They even have a little homer bar with an open shelf to display their favorite drinks!

From a decoration standpoint, these homeowners added greenery and pretty white flowers which give this kitchen an eye-pleasing color palette across blue, green (even those trees, when it’s nice in Washington of course), and white. If you aren’t big on interior design, let this serve as an example of color done right.

Why It’s a Favorite: This family loves having people over, clearly. The big island allows for late night conversations to be kept in the kitchen while meals are being cooked, or for more space to chop veggies for lunch. The homeowners wanted this kitchen to be a focal point for their home, so that’s exactly what we did.
